Fly into Portland International Airport (PDX) where transportation to your hotel will be waiting for you. Arrive at the downtown Heathman Hotel, your “home away from home” for the next 4 nights.

Upon arriving at the hotel, check-in to your room and enjoy a bit of leisure time if time allows. Meet with your ATC Trip Host and the rest of the group in the hotel lobby and depart on your first tour of the trip, a Portland Food Cart and Neighborhood Tour. Portland’s multicultural and creative spirit has led to a very diverse and thriving culinary scene, most notable are the hundreds of food carts located in nearly every corner of the city. This Food Cart and Neighborhood Tour is a great introduction into the city of Portland as it will allow you to get a lay of the land and experience the unique flavors of each neighborhood.

Following the tour, return to the hotel and enjoy the option to either retire early or venture to the Portland Art Museum which hosts regular events on Friday nights. Take an evening stroll through the museum as you enjoy live music, beer, and wine at this weekly exhibition.

Meals Included: Dinner (Food Cart Tour)

Depart the hotel in the morning and meet your private, local guide for a Walking Tour of Downtown Portland. Learn about the history of the city as you stroll along the Willamette river, view famous sculptures, visit the smallest park in the world, and sample local fare like donuts from the famous Voodoo Donuts. Conclude this tour at Powell’s City of Books, an enormous, family-owned bookstore which spans an entire city block! Enjoy leisure time to explore the bookstore, grab a bite to eat, or simply people-watch from a nearby cafe.

Continue the journey to the Lan Su Chinese Garden, a spectacular Ming Dynasty inspired botanical garden. “Once inside the garden's walls, you'll feel as if you've traveled through time to another era in a faraway world.”

Afterward, visit the Portland Saturday Market, an open-air arts and crafts market located in the Old Town/Chinatown District. Watch artists at work and keep an eye out for a hand-crafted gift or souvenir.

Stop for a drink at Huber’s Cafe, one of Portland’s oldest restaurants famous for its flaming Spanish Coffee. Watch as your bartender puts on an elaborate cocktail-crafting performance and relax as you sip this fine coffee concoction. Finally, end the night at Lechon, a lively Latin American restaurant with a creative and extensive tapas menu.

Meals Included: Dinner

Day 3

While the neighboring states of California and Washington are more well-known for their wine-making, Oregon is also an extremely profitable wine region. Spend the afternoon exploring the nearby wine region of Willamette Valley and the breathtaking scenic beauty along the way. Led by a local guide, your first stop will be to Silver Falls State Park. Take a leisurely hike through the peaceful evergreen forest and enjoy refreshments and snacks at the base of a magnificent waterfall before continuing the journey to Willamette Valley.

Upon arriving, you’ll visit three boutique wineries, sample a spread of delicious fine wines, and learn how the terroir of the land influences each wine you taste. Relax and enjoy the sweeping scenic views on the journey to and from each destination. Stop for lunch at Left Coast Cellars, a certified sustainable winery, and 2020 Oregon Winery of the Year.

Return to Portland and enjoy leisure time to relax and refresh at the hotel. In the evening, enjoy dinner at Langbaan, an upscale Thai restaurant that happens to be “hidden” within another restaurant. Accessed by a secret door, and with only 24 seats, Langbaan is one of Portland’s most sought after restaurants. Totally unique and absolutely divine, dining at Langbaan is more than just a meal, it is a one-of-a-kind dining experience!

Meals Included: Lunch, Dinner

Begin the day with an early morning breakfast before embarking on an Urban Hiking Tour through Portland’s Forest Park, one of the largest urban parks in the United States. It’s easy to feel as if you’re in the middle of the wilderness in Forest Park when in reality, you are but a few miles from the heart of Portland’s bustling city center. This tour will take you along a gentle nature trail through the forest, past the abandoned stone ruins of “The Witch’s Castle”, and the grand, French-renaissance style Pittock Mansion.

Continue the journey into Washington Park, another large urban park home to the spectacular Portland Japanese Garden, one of the largest in the world outside of Japan. Enjoy leisure time to explore this magnificent park which includes the International Rose Test Garden, and Arboretum, an impressive Bamboo Garden, and more.

Spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure. In the evening, enjoy a round of drinks at Ex Novo Brewing Company, a 100% non-profit brewery. Afterward, enjoy an unforgettable Farewell Dinner at Han Oak, yet another one of Portland’s “hidden” restaurants. Located on a neighborhood side street and accessible only by an unmarked door, Han Oak is not your typical restaurant. In fact, the owners serve up gourmet dumplings and noodles from the comfort of their family home. Unpretentious and welcoming, Han Oak is the perfect place to enjoy one final meal with new friends.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
