Istanbul, Turkey

Istanbul, formerly known as Byzantium and then Constantinople, is Turkey’s economic, cultural, and historical center. This city was the capital of both the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires, and is thus filled with an overwhelming array of historic monuments from the Roman Hippodrome to the Hagia Sophia, originally a Greek Orthodox Church that was the largest building in the world at the time of its construction in 537 AD. As one of the largest cities in the world spanning two continents, Istanbul can seem like an overwhelming place. With the help of expert local guides, this trip will allow you to experience the best of the city while illuminating a tangled and tantalizing crossroads of culture.
