Day 1

The iconic Hallgrímskirkja Church in downtown Reykjavik.

The iconic Hallgrímskirkja Church in downtown Reykjavik.

Arrive to Keflavik International Airport in the morning where transportation to the Hotel Borg in central Reykjavik will be waiting for you.

Upon arriving at the hotel, drop off your bags and meet your fellow travelers in the hotel lobby. From there, take a quick stroll across the street to Messin restaurant to get acquainted over lunch. Following lunch, embark on a guided walking tour of Reykjavik where you will visit the city’s major sites such as the iconic Hallgrímskirkja Church, the Old Harbour, and Harpa Concert Hall. Reykjavik’s lack of chain restaurants and city skyscrapers give this capital city a very quaint and charming atmosphere. Here, you will find brightly colored homes, rustic cafés intertwined with fine-dining restaurants, and hidden parks all situated against a backdrop of towering snow-capped mountains in the distance.

Enjoy leisure time in the afternoon to get settled and regroup for dinner at Jamie’s Italian restaurant, a chic modern eatery in the Hotel Borg.

Meals Included: Lunch, Dinner

Day 2

Whale Watching in Faxaflói Bay.

Whale Watching in Faxaflói Bay.

As you cruise around Faxaflói Bay, the crew will share information about the environment and native marine life. Keep your eyes peeled, because Minke and Humpback whales, dolphins, orcas and puffins are commonly seen in the area!

After returning to to the harbour, embark on a walking food tour of Reykjavik. Your expert guide will take you to many local gems, like the famous Baejarins Bestu Hot Dog Stand and share information about traditional Icelandic food, the fishing and whaling industry, and a bit of Iceland’s history.

Enjoy free time to venture around charming Reykjavik before meeting at the famous harbourside Slippbarinn restaurant for drinks and small-plates to close the evening.

Thingvellir National Park.

Thingvellir National Park.

This day will take you on a tour of the Golden Circle, a 200 mile round-trip journey around the southern portion of Iceland which covers a number of impressive geological sites. The first stop will be to Thingvellir National Park which happens to be the only place in the world where the mid-Atlantic ridge is visible above sea level.

After visiting Thingvellir, journey past Laugarvatn Lake, a shallow lake heated by underground hot springs, before visiting the highly active Geysir Geothermal Area which features exploding geysers, bubbling mud pits, and steaming hot springs.

Afterward, continue the journey to Gullfoss Waterfall, one of the largest and most impressive waterfalls in Iceland. Enjoy the drive to and from each destination on this Golden Circle Tour as you gaze out over sweeping vistas, rolling green hills, wild Icelandic horses and quaint countryside villages.

Return to Reykjavik in the evening and meet for dinner at another fabulous local restaurant.

Day 4

Seljalandsfoss Waterfall.

Seljalandsfoss Waterfall.

This day will clearly exhibit some of Iceland’s most otherworldly landscapes through a scenic tour of Iceland’s South Coast. The first stop on the journey will be to Black Sand Beach, characterized by ink-black sands and dramatic basalt towers.

The next stop will be to Sólheimajökull Glacier, part of a “mother glacier” known as Mýrdalsjökull which happens to be located on top of an active volcano. The ice-blue glacier, which sits atop black volcanic rock is a very literal representation of why Iceland is often called the Land of Fire and Ice.

Following our glacier visit, we will journey on to the spectacular 200 ft Skógafoss Waterfall. Journey past Eyjafjallajökull Volcano which erupted most recently in 2010 and venture to Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, one of the most popular waterfalls in Iceland.

Return to Reykjavik in the evening for a relaxed dinner after a full day of activity.
