The Benefits of Small Group Travel

Solo travel is freeing and exciting, but it can be downright exhausting. Traveling with a large tour company lessens the burden of traveling on your own, but it can be awkward and restrictive. In the midst of our own quest for a happy medium between these two options, we discovered a goldilocks solution: small group travel.

Whether you’re a seasoned solo traveler looking to change things up or you’re someone simply looking for a new travel experience and the opportunity to forge new friendships, small group travel might be for you. And here are a few reasons why:

You can leave the planning to someone else.

The beauty of small group travel, at least the way that we at the AstridTravel Club do it, is that someone else takes care of all the planning and logistics while at the same time affording you enough freedom to customize your experience. The AstridTravel Club was designed with the solo traveler in mind, which is why we strive to achieve a healthy balance between activity and leisure time on each and every trip we offer. Traveling with the ATC means that you can leave all the headache aspects of travel to us. No more scouring the internet for the best hotels, the perfect itinerary or the right guides.

All you have to do is show up and enjoy.

Small groups allow for more freedom and flexibility.

Traveling with a small group of roughly 4 - 6 people means that the demands of the group can be more easily coordinated and met. While we take great pride in crafting itineraries that are both unique and fulfilling, we are willing to customize and change things as deemed necessary by the group and ATC trip host. Our goal is to make sure that each and every traveler is able to achieve their ideal travel experience; dealing with small groups allows us to be flexible and make the extra effort to optimize the satisfaction of every traveler. If you decide that you’d like extra free time to explore on your own, let us know and we’ll work with you to make it happen. Whatever it is, we’ll make every effort to make sure that your travel experience is everything you dreamed of and more.

You can really get to know your fellow travelers.

When traveling with a group of 25+ people, it’s extremely difficult to form and maintain any kind of group cohesion. However, when groups are small, members of the group have an easier time communicating and getting to know one another. In addition, all AstridTravel Club trips are loosely constructed around a theme in order to ensure a comfortable level of common interest among travelers. This creates better group cohesion and increases the likelihood that you will meet people who you feel you can connect with on a meaningful level. We trust that the people you meet on any AstridTravel Club trip will quickly turn from strangers into friends.

You’ll have an opportunity to venture off the beaten path.

Traveling with a small group of people allows you to visit places you might not consider visiting by yourself and do things that might not be feasible for larger groups. For example, one of the more unique aspects of the AstridTravel Club Trip to Marrakesh is the opportunity to visit a local Berber family home. This family, which happens to be friends of our local guide, is kind enough to welcome our small group into their home, teach us the traditional Berber way to brew Moroccan mint tea, share stories over a plate of homemade bread and hummus, and offer a unique insight into the Berber way of life. An experience like this is one-of-a-kind, and something that small groups have the luxury of enjoying.

You’ll find comfort in increased safety and security.

Not only does traveling in a small groups give solo travelers the security of numbers, but traveling with the AstridTravel Club often means that you will be accompanied by a local guide who will serve as an added protective measure. Travelers on ATC small group trips also enjoy the benefit of a private room in luxury accommodations, a level of security many large tour companies do not offer.
